Sinj is currently the third most popular European destination on Pinterest in the category of sustainable tourism

The City of Sinj, one of the finalists in the national competition for the title of the European Destination of Excellence (EDEN) 2008, has the privilege of being promoted on the European Best Destinations (EBD) website owing to its membership in the European EDEN network.

The latest survey of the EBD organisation has shown that Sinj currently holds the third place on the list of most popular European destinations on Pinterest, among the population searching for 'sustainable tourism in Europe'. In addition, the city recorded growth in global popularity on Facebook of almost 16% this year, announced the Ministry of Tourism.

In the last couple of months, EBD carried out an analysis to establish how some 320 EDEN destinations rank on social networks, aiming to present them as examples of good practices and providing some advice on how to improve their reach on all destination-relevant networks.

EDEN is a network of distinguished destinations in sustainable tourism. "Every year the Croatian Tourist Board, with its local tourist board system and in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism, conducts competitions and selects a winner and four finalists. The winner, the destination picked as EDEN, is then promoted on the official websites of the European Commission and the Croatian Tourist Board, and together with the finalists it is presented on the European level as an example of good practice. In line with EDEN's objectives, non-traditional and less developed destinations are chosen which base their offer on sustainable, year-round tourism. Rural tourism, Tourism and local intangible heritage, Tourism and protected areas, Aquatic tourism, Tourism and regeneration of physical sites, Accessible tourism, Tourism and local gastronomy, Cultural tourism - these are the themes for which Croatia has so far picked eight European destinations of excellence and 32 finalists", cites the Croatian National Tourist Board.
