Famous Pastry Chef to Open New Bakery in Split

Split will become sweeter next week with the addition of another delicious address.

One of the most famous young pastry chefs in Croatia, Split's very own Tea Mamut has decided to turn her sweet dreams into a ravishing reality. Buro 247 reports the details on May 24, 2017.

29-year-old Tea Mamut left Split to pursue the prestigious culinary academy in New York: The Culinary Institute of America. Known as “the Harvard of culinary school”, Mamut graduated with a degree in pastry and bakery management and decided to continue her career in the Big Apple.

The esteemed pastry chef baked in distinguished NYC restaurants such as "Daniel" which boasted three Michelin stars and her desserts were also tasted by a number of well-known stars such as Natalie Portman, Kate Hudson, Michael Douglas and Roger Federer. 

But after all was said and done, Mamut felt that opening her own pastry shop was the only true way to turn her dreams into a reality - so why not share her love of sweets with those that harbor the same love?

Thus, Split's newest pastry paradise Oš kolač will come to fruition, offering a permanent exhibition of cakes and rotating seasonal desserts. 

All of the desserts will be handmade without powder products - crafted exclusively with local ingredients that have been purchased from small producers all over the country.

Most of the recipes are based on the sweet tastes of childhood where all known combinations of ingredients exist. 

The permanent culinary exhibition will include vanilla and hazelnut pancakes, cheesecakes, cakes with raspberries and lemons, traditional favorites like krempita, and cookies galore…amongst so much more.
