After Receiving Slovenian Fines, Croatian Fishermen Meet with Justice Minister

ZAGREB, February 2, 2018 - Justice Minister Dražen Bošnjaković informed Savudrija Bay fishermen during their meeting in Umag on Thursday evening that the Croatian authorities provided them with legal assistance and accordingly hired a law firm in Ljubljana that would on Monday lodge appeals against penalty notices sent to the fishermen for what Ljubljana treats as crossing the Slovenian border without permission.

Slovenia Reiterates Its Insistence on Border Arbitration Ruling

ZAGREB, January 30, 2018 - For Slovenia, Croatia is a neighbour, friend and partner in the European Union and NATO, but Slovenia cannot renounce the arbitration ruling which finally resolved the border dispute between the two countries through a compromise, Slovenian President Borut Pahor said on Tuesday at a traditional reception for foreign diplomats accredited to Ljubljana.

Croatia to Fine Slovenian Fishermen

ZAGREB, January 30, 2018 - Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković on Tuesday said that Zagreb regretted that Slovenia was continuing pursuing its "unacceptable policy of unilaterally implementing the arbitration decision," and underscored that Croatia would respond in the same way to fines issued by Slovenia's police to Croatian fishermen.

Croatian Fishermen Deny Receiving Slovenian Fines

ZAGREB, January 27, 2018 - Not one Istrian fisherman has received a Slovenian fine for allegedly "crossing the Slovenian border without permission" and if they receive them, they will send them to the Istrian border police chief in line with an agreement with Agriculture Minister Tomislav Tolušić, Istria County Fishermen's Guild president Robert Momić said on Saturday.
