Secrets of Vis and Bisevo

Explore the secrets of Dalmatian Islands

While there is more than enough to explore and enjoy in and around the Dalmatian coast and islands on a standard holiday, it is worth making the extra effort to see some sights which are truly extraordinary. One of the highlights for many people visiting Hvar Island is a full-day tour to the magical caves and coves of Vis and Bisevo.

Starting from Hvar town, your first port of call is a very special cave on the small island of Ravnik. The Green Cave, as it is known - is famous for the small cracks in its ceiling, allowing beams of light to come through, leaving a trace in the sea throughout the cave. The cave is quite spacious, and its depth varies from three to five metres and smaller boats can even enter the cave.

Just five nautical miles from Vis Island, lies one of Croatia's most unusual natural phenomena on the island of Bisevo - the spectacular Blue Cave (Modra Spilja) - whose interior is an indescribable intense blue colour due to rays of the sun which penetrate through a single crack in the rock. The lighting effects will be like no other you have ever experienced! Add to that the island's stunning nature and splendid sandy beaches, and it is little wonder all our guests leave Bisevo short of breath at such wondrous sights! The best/optimal time to visit Blue Cave to experience its magical blue light is between 12pm - 2 pm. Because the cave is so small, we will disembark and use a smaller craft to actually visit the interior. Because the Blue Cave is such a magnet for visitors, access is managed by local port authorities and we may have to wait for 10-20 minutes before being allowed in.

The unspoiled and rugged island of Vis is an island of extraordinary beauty and rich in historic heritage dating back to ancient Greeks but is also famous for its wines, fishing, architecture and nature. After Blue Cave we cruise to Komiža town on Vis Island, a picturesque village known for its rich cultural, historical and fishing traditions. The town is best known for it's Renaissance tower dating back to the 16th century. Today, it is a home of a local Fishing museum. Komiža is also known for its fine restaurants, where you can enjoy a prefect seafood lunch at famous Bako or Jastožera restaurant : a place where you pick your lobster from the sea for lunch. Both places are known for superb fresh fish dishes!

Our tour takes in the coves and beaches of the island of Vis, some of the most outstanding on the coast, allowing you ample to time to chill. Stiniva cove is one of our guests' favorite beaches. Located on the south side of the island, it is characterized by a very narrow entrance, after which the cove widens to a beautiful, thirty-meter wide pebble beach, flanked by perpendicular rocks 35 metres high that, long time ago, were forming a dome of a huge cave. The cave colapsed exposing a beautiful bay.
Relax on the beach, swim, snorkel - whatever you decide, the Secret Dalmatia Caves and Coves of Bisevo and Vis is a spectacular day out that will leave you marveling for days.
