ZAGREB, July 29, 2018 - The police trade union on Sunday dismissed media reports regarding inhumane treatment of migrants and publicly praised all police officers who are doing their job and protecting the state border.

"We can't help but wonder where are all those nice images of police officers helping migrants... It is simply impossible that all police officer started acting differently overnight," the police trade union said.

The union also said this reaction was prompted by complaints from several associations, particularly an article that came out in a daily newspaper recently which carried a story of migrants who accused the police of beatings and of taking their personal belongings and money.

Such incidents, if they really happened, should be looked at as isolated events which the union condemns.
