Linđo Participates in Celebrating Vukovar City Day

The two cities, located at opposite ends of the country from one another have a lot in common, in both tragic memories and happy ones.

As DuList reported on the 10th of May, 2017, Linđo, the much loved Dubrovnik folklore ensamble, participated in the celebration of Vukovar's City Day at the Croatian House in Vukovar.

Linđo was invited by the Croatian Cultural and Music Society ''Danube'' (Dunav) and took part in a concert marking the 150th anniversary of the establishment of the society.

In addition to the presence of numerous representatives of both city and county authorities of Vukovar, as well as representatives from cultural art societies from all over Croatia, Dubrovnik's very own Linđo was a special guest of the program, the performances by the group delighted all those who attended.

To be part of the celebration of the City of Vukovar Day and to be invited to participate in such an important event, celebrating the 150th anniversary of the foundation of the society from Vukovar is of great significance. The Danube (Dunav) society has proved that it can, even in the most difficult of moments, successfully preservate its cultural heritage.

Dubrovnik and Vukovar are, despite being very different in almost every way, deeply connected and therefore the invitation carries a deep, meaningful message of friendship. Linđo's invitation and participation in Vukovar's important city event highlights the desire for even further strengthening of this unique relationship formed from the most heartbreaking shared events during the war.

The special event was held under the patronage of the City of Zagreb with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Vukovar-Srijem County, the City of Vukovar and the Croatian Cultural Center in Vukovar.
