New Exhibition in Jelsa: Croatia on the List of UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage

The List of the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage contains 14 entries for Croatia. One of them is the Easter Procession “Following the Cross”, which takes place in the central part of the island for more than 500 years now.
 
There are several other entries related to Hvar island, like the Hvar Lace – a part of the protected Lacemaking in Croatia, Klapa singing of Dalmatia and The Mediterranean Diet.
 
A new exhibition organized by the Croatian Ministry of Culture, the Ethnographic Museum Zagreb, Agency for Management of the Stari Grad Plain and the Museum of the Jelsa Municipality about the Croatian entries of the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list will be available in Jelsa at the reception hall from March 18 until May 30, 2016.

– Klapa multipart singing of Dalmatia, southern Croatia
– Bećarac singing and playing from Eastern Croatia
– Nijemo Kolo, silent circle dance of the Dalmatian Hinterland
– Ojkanje singing
– Gingerbread craft from Northern Croatia
– Sinjska Alka, a knights´ tournament in Sinj
– Annual carnival bell ringers´s pageant from the Kastav area
– Festivity of Saint Blaise, the patron of Dubrovnik
– Lacemaking in Croatia
– Procession Za Krizen (“following the cross”) on the island of Hvar
– Spring procession of Ljelje/Kraljice (queens) from Gorjani
– Traditional manufacturing of children´s wooden toys in Hrvatsko Zagorje
– Two-part singing and playing in the Istrian scale
