Top 5 Hvar: Organic Goodness from GreenHouse

By Ivana 01 Aug 2015, 11:03 AM Top 5 Hvar
It has been almost 9 months that we have changed our diet. Going from a very strong addiction to sugar to a paleo diet has not always been easy, but the effects both on me and my 4 year old has been huge. We cut out gluten, starch, sugar, preservatives and artificial colours (all food chemicals), we use probiotics to help to heal our digestion, supplement with fermented cod liver oil and try to eat as organic as possible.

As a stay-at-home mother, I had the privilege of having enough time to educate myself on what to eat, how to prepare food and where to get it. But for many this is not so easy while working. Getting some advice from people who are living the healthy lifestyle can help, so we though to ask our friends at Greenhouse to share their opinion on what are the top 5 products from their shop to recommend to you from the variety of their offer.

As the owner of Greenhouse Antun told us, it is certainly not an easy task to pick just 5 things, but if he would be forced to choose the top 5, it will be these:

1. Chia seeds

Very popular these days, chia seeds are gluten-free seeds, packed with omega-3, protein, rare antioxidants and fiber.

2. Coconut oil and water

The health benefits of coconut oil include hair care, skin care, boosted immune system, proper digestion and regulated metabolism. It is also great for fighting against candida and other fungus. Great for cooking or raw.

3. Raspberry seed oil (nature´s sunscreen)

Raspberry seed oil is an excellent scavenger and , and a rich source of alpha and gamma tocopherol as well as y-tocopherol, along with carotenoides (Vitamin A). With a reported use for the prevention of rash, eczema and other skin lesions, it also has superior anti-inflammatory properties. According to the Oomah study, it could be used as a sunscreen with a potential SPF between 28 - 50 UVB.

4. Gluten free bread

Avoiding gluten is a growing trend among people these days. Having a gluten free bread as an option while travelling can be useful.

5. Home-made deodorant & creams

Avoiding chemicals while living in this society can be challenging sometimes. Using deodorants and creams is one aspect of it. Try these home-made products to stay away from chemicals and smell good at the same time.

Check your mirrors and be aware of blind spots before turning. While at a stop sign or red light, make a complete stop in order to let bikers pass, and check for unseen riders. Respect the right of way of bicyclists because they are entitled to share the road with you. Cyclists are not immune to traffic violations: pay attention to red lights and practice arm signaling!
