I feel healthy just looking at the pictures (for which thanks to Vedran Janic), and the kids would choose this place over the beach every time. Agrotourizam Pharos opened on June 1 and is already proving a firm hit with those who have visited - a place for kids to run around the field with an assortment of animals, while the grown-ups relax in the historic UNESCO-protected Stari Grad Plain, while enjoying a glass or wine and tasting the family's organic olives, cheeses, wines, hams and other delicacies.
Part of the excellent Hvar Open Tour Hop on Hop Off double-decker bus route, Pharos is located just outside Stari Grad on the road to Jelsa, where you see the sign next to the three white posts sticking out into the air. If you are on the bus, it passes every two hours, enough time to get a sense of Hvar nature at its best. If you are with bicycle, scooter or car, it is open daily from 09:00 to 20:00 - all welcome.
There is a hectare of land under cultivation just for vegetables, and many people come and buy the organic produce, with lots of it ending up on the plates of diners in the family restaurant Marinero in Hvar Town.
Or come and try the wonderful home-grown produce in a very authentic setting, with waitresses in Ancient Greek attire serving wine from amforas. A wonderful and very safe place for children, and a worthy addition to Hvar's considerable tourism offer.
